Position: School Support Worker
Salary: £13-£15 per hour (depending on experience)
Working Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, 4 days a week (occasionally 5 days)
Location: Harrow

Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Support Worker in the Harrow area to provide 1:1 care for learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), challenging behaviours, and personal care requirements. This role requires a commitment to supporting the educational and personal development of these learners in a safe and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support for learners with ASD, addressing their educational, emotional, and personal care needs.
- Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours.
- Assist learners with personal care tasks, ensuring their dignity and comfort.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that respects diversity and promotes equality.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Monitor and record learners' progress, reporting any concerns or improvements to the relevant staff.
- Support learners in both classroom and extracurricular activities, encouraging participation and engagement.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of learners at all times, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional development and training sessions as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with children with ASD and challenging behaviours is highly desirable.
- Experience in an educational setting is preferred.
- Basic understanding of equality, diversity, and safeguarding principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with learners.
- Flexibility to occasionally work longer hours as needed.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications in special education, child care, or a related field are advantageous.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
