Complex Care Nurse – Devizes, Wiltshire

We are actively seeking dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our team, providing high-quality 1:1 care and clinical support to a gentleman living in a clean, modern, centrally located flat in Devizes.
Our client is a warm, engaging, and sociable 48-year-old gentleman who lives with the ongoing effects of malignant brain tumours, stroke, seizures, diabetes, adrenal insufficiency, and cognitive impairment. While he faces significant daily challenges, he values his independence, dignity, and quality of life. We are seeking friendly, calm, and observant nurses who can safely support his complex physical, neurological, and mental health needs while providing reassurance and promoting his wellbeing.
Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time
Care Package: 24-Hour Support Package (1:1 Care)
Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts including days, nights, weekends, and rota-based working patterns.
Key Responsibilities
As a Nurse with Coyle Homecare, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, person-centred care and clinical oversight. Your responsibilities will include:
Clinical Care & Monitoring
- Administer medications safely in line with care plans and MAR documentation.
- Monitor blood glucose levels using a Libre sensor.
- Assess and monitor changes in health status, including risks associated with seizures, diabetes, adrenal insufficiency, and neurological conditions.
- Escalate concerns appropriately and liaise with healthcare professionals when required.
- Ensure all care is delivered in accordance with clinical best practice and professional standards.
Emergency Response
- Remain calm and professional during medical emergencies.
- Recognise early signs of deterioration and take appropriate action.
- Follow emergency procedures and clinical protocols to ensure client safety.
Daily Living & Wellbeing
- Support with personal care, nutrition, hydration, mobility, and transfers as required.
- Provide emotional support, encouragement, and companionship.
- Assist with appointments, activities, and community access to promote independence and social inclusion.
- Encourage and maintain the client's dignity, choice, and independence at all times.
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain accurate clinical records, care notes, and medication documentation.
- Communicate effectively with family members, case managers, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Adhere to safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional standards at all times.
Key Job Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Current NMC registration.
- Experience working within complex care, community nursing, rehabilitation, neurological care, or a similar setting.
- Experience administering medication and managing complex health needs.
- Excellent assessment, observation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and rota-based patterns.
- Calm and professional approach in challenging or emergency situations.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and person-centred care.
Desirable Skills
In addition to the essential requirements, the following experience and knowledge would be advantageous:
- Experience supporting individuals with seizures, acquired brain injuries, stroke rehabilitation, or mental health needs.
- Knowledge of diabetes management and glucose monitoring systems such as Libre sensors.
- Knowledge and experience supporting individuals with adrenal insufficiency.
- Previous experience working within community-based complex care packages.
- A deep understanding and genuine care for the wellbeing of others.
- The ability to listen actively and communicate clearly with service users, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to manage challenging situations positively.
- The capacity to think quickly and make sound clinical decisions.
- Reliable, professional, and committed approach to care delivery.
