Personal Assistant (Complex Care – 2:1 Support) – Bury

We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and motivated Personal Assistants to support a bright and much-loved 13-year-old boy based in Bury. Following a brain injury, he is now non-verbal and non-mobile and requires full support with daily care, communication, and rehabilitation.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a real difference while gaining hands-on experience in complex care and neuro-rehabilitation within both the home and school environment.


About the Role

You will be part of a 2:1 care package, providing consistent support both at home and within the school setting. The role involves working closely with the family and multidisciplinary team to support the young person’s ongoing rehabilitation and development.

This position is ideal for individuals interested in Occupational Therapy (OT) or Speech and Language Therapy (SALT), or those looking to build a long-term career in complex care.


Shift Pattern

  • Day shifts: 8:00am – 8:00pm
  • Weekend shifts available: 8-hour shifts
  • Mix of home and school-based shifts
  • Flexible rota to be discussed

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing full personal care and support
  • Assisting with feeding and hydration
  • Supporting communication using non-verbal methods
  • Assisting with mobility, positioning, and comfort
  • Supporting rehabilitation programmes set by therapists
  • Accompanying and supporting at school
  • Working as part of a 2:1 care team
  • Monitoring wellbeing and reporting changes
  • Encouraging engagement and meaningful interaction

About You

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Compassionate, patient, and reliable
  • Committed to long-term support and consistency of care
  • Keen to learn and develop clinical and rehabilitation skills
  • Interested in neuro-rehabilitation, paediatrics, OT, or SALT
  • Studying or planning to study Occupational Therapy or Speech and Language Therapy (desirable)
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Passionate about improving quality of life and outcomes

Experience in care is helpful but not essential – full training will be provided.
