Paediatric Complex Care Support Worker – Job Description

Location: Family Home
Hours: 40 hours per week (currently delivered over 5 nights – waking nights)

Role Purpose

To provide skilled overnight care for an infant born July 2024 with complex medical needs, ensuring airway safety, respiratory stability, and safe NG feeding within the home environment.

Diagnoses include:

  • Cri du Chat syndrome

  • Chromosome 9p Duplication

  • Severe sleep apnoea

  • Tracheostomy

  • Tracheomalacia & Bronchomalacia

  • Reflux

  • Small ASD

  • Prematurity (32+3)

Key Responsibilities

  • Full tracheostomy care and emergency management

  • Airway suctioning and monitoring for respiratory distress

  • Overnight CPAP support

  • Administration and monitoring of overnight NG feeds

  • Continuous clinical observation and documentation

  • Immediate response to apnoea or airway compromise

Essential Requirements

  • Must have prior paediatric complex care experience

  • Must be fully competent in tracheostomy care (no training provided)

  • Experience with NG feeding and overnight respiratory support

  • Confident working independently on waking nights

  • Up-to-date paediatric BLS
