Overview
We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and skilled Paediatric Complex Carers to join our dedicated care team supporting children with complex health needs across Norfolk. You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care within the child’s home, ensuring safety, comfort, and a positive daily experience for the child and their family.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe and effective tracheostomy care, including routine checks and emergency procedures.
- Support children using BiPAP and CPAP ventilation systems, ensuring equipment is used and maintained correctly.
- Perform oral, nasal, and tracheal suctioning as required to maintain airway patency.
- Deliver PEG feeding, including administration of feeds, medications, and routine stoma care.
- Monitor and record vital signs, changes in condition, and daily observations.
- Assist with personal care, mobility, and positioning in line with the child’s care plan.
- Encourage and support developmental activities, play, and communication.
- Work collaboratively with families, nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure consistent, safe care.
- Maintain accurate, confidential documentation and comply with safeguarding policies.
- Respond calmly and effectively in emergency or deteriorating-condition situations.
- Contribute to a nurturing, positive environment that promotes the child’s wellbeing and independence.
Requirements
Essential:
- Previous experience in paediatric complex care OR willingness to undertake full clinical training.
- Competency (or willingness to be trained) in:
- Tracheostomy care
- BiPAP/CPAP ventilation
- Suctioning
- PEG feeding
- Ability to work 12-hour day and/or night shifts.
- A caring, patient, and professional approach.
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a family home.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 3 (or above) in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with children with long-term, life-limiting, or complex needs.
- Driver with access to a car.
