Location: Devizes, Wiltshire (Central Location)

Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (24-Hour Support Package, 1:1 Care)

About Our Client & His Home

We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Complex Carers to support a warm, engaging and sociable 48-year-old man living in a clean, modern, centrally located flat in Devizes.

While he faces significant daily challenges from a history of malignant brain tumours, a stroke, and cognitive impairment, he values his independence and dignity. 

He needs vigilant, 1:1 support from friendly, calm and observant carers who can manage his complex physical and neurological needs while offering genuine companionship and emotional reassurance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Your role will blend attentive clinical monitoring with everyday personal and lifestyle support:

Holistic Daily Care: Assist with personal care, daily living, nutrition, and safe mobility/transfers within his home and the community.

Health & Medication Management: Safely administer medication, monitor blood glucose using a Libre sensor, and stay highly alert to shifts in his health (including risks related to seizures, diabetes, and adrenal insufficiency).

Emergency Response: Remain calm under pressure, recognize early signs of medical deterioration, and confidently escalate to healthcare professionals when needed.

Lifestyle & Wellbeing: Provide friendly emotional support and encouragement, assist with appointments and activities, and help him access the local community.

Administration: Maintain accurate daily care records and work collaboratively with his family and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

• Minimum 6 months’ experience in complex care, healthcare, or supporting neurological conditions.
• A keen desire to learn new skills.
• Practical experience with medication administration and moving & handling.
• Excellent observation and communication skills.
• A reliable and flexible approach to 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and a rota pattern.
• A calm, professional demeanor during stressful or challenging medical situations.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
• Full client-specific training will be provided.  

Desirable:

• Experience with seizure management, stroke rehabilitation, or mental health support.
• Knowledge of diabetic issues, and familiarity with glucose monitoring systems (e.g., Libre sensors).
• Knowledge of supporting individuals with adrenal insufficiency.
