Every individual deserves the chance to live an independent and fulfilling life. For Henry and Freddie, that meant tailoring a 24/7 support package to ensure they could go out in the community, or away on holiday with their family.
Henry and Freddie are brothers that begin receiving support from Coyle Homecare in March 2023 after their family expressed dissatisfaction with their previous provider.
With their previous homecare supplier, they had a problem with the quality of staff, their lack of communication and the level of training they had received. It meant that the package for both Henry and Freddie was being run poorly and causing a lot of anxiety and stress for the parents.
Since taking over the care of Henry and Freddie, Coyle Homecare have managed to provide extremely experienced carers that put great procedures and policies in place. We have also managed to build a strong trusting relationship with the entire family.
Beforehand, Freddie was agitated and unable to go out in the community because he wasn’t getting on with the carers and they didn’t understand his learning disabilities. We have provided specialist support workers that understand his needs which means he can now enjoy activities such as dancing, going to music class, going shopping, and enjoying his life.
Ever since Coyle Homecare started delivering support, the family has gained confidence in us and are able to leave the boys at home with staff and go on holiday. They’re also able to take both Henry and Freddie on holidays with the support of our staff.
The family were able to go on holiday to Cornwall and Spain which is something they were not able to do previously. We are immensely proud of this and grateful that the family have given us the opportunity to improve the quality and independence of the boys’ lives.
You can now visibly see the difference in Henry’s face. He is happy and smiling, which is something the parents didn’t think was possible 9 months prior. Just before we started working with ‘Henry’, he was nearly on end-of-life support with a Midazolam pump and constantly in and out of hospital. Since our carers and nurses have begun working on the package, however, his health has dramatically improved, he is having significantly less seizures and has had no recent hospital admissions.
The work Coyle Homecare have done with Henry and Freddie goes to show that when you try to improve the quality of life for service users, rather than just maintain it, you can really make a difference to their happiness. We have taken them on many trips to the London Eye, Kew Gardens, Pumpkin Patches, etc., that all help to bring them independence and joy.
Since March 2023, Coyle Homecare have taken over the care of Henry and Freddie and dramatically improved their lives. By supplying exceptional staff who are compassionate and patient, we’ve been able to offer the brothers a new sense of confidence and independence. Our team has built a trusting relationship with the family allowing their parents to gain respite when needed.
